DysisCare Family Support

Over 800,000 people live with dementia in Britain and approximately 530,000 of those reside at home, being cared for by family members (Alzheimer’s Society, 2012). Dementia, and its symptoms, can have a profound effect, not only on the person living with the disease, but can place great strain on family relationships.

Care Programme

DysisCare work with organisations to help them identify their strategic requirements in relation to the communication needs of those living with dementia and the staff who support and care for them. Our research based short programme builds on existing best practice and training to provide staff with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to improve the lives of those living with dementia, as well as improve their experience of caring for them.

DysisCare have actively researched many different therapies and activities that benefit to the lives and experiences of those living with dementia, for example Music Therapy, Animal Therapy and Aromatherapy. These activities can supplement the DysisCare bespoke communications training to enhance the individual care plan. Please ask a member of the DysisCare team if you are interested in any of these activities as day-events will be organised and run by our consultant therapists.
